★ ABOUT ★

S.J. Cameron (Sam) was born in England and entered the world with a mop of red hair. At age 30, she moved to New Zealand and met her soulmate on holiday in Fiji (also a fellow gingernut, although his hair had turned brown by then!). They have two amazing teenage sons – both also born with ginger hair! They are a family of copper tops. They have the most loved dog in the world – Barney the Schnoodle. Barney is the odd one out as he has black hair, four legs and a tail…other than that, he is pretty much human.

Sam spent her childhood immersed in books. She has always loved writing and telling stories. Her life has been pretty eventful, so there is normally a funny story to be told. Sam had a long career in marketing and communications, but in the last 10 years has also followed her huge passions of photography, writing and coaching – helping people be the best they can be. Sam is absolutely passionate about helping people to follow their dreams and lead a good life. She has finally got round to publishing a book, so Jimmy Boon is number one, but watch this space as there will be many more!

★ JIMMY BOON -
THE SUPER RESILIENT RANGA ★

Jimmy Boon is a chapter book with illustrations. The story will be enjoyed by all children (and adults!), but is most suited to readers aged 5 - 12.

Jimmy Boon was born in the middle of a thunderstorm with a mop of bright gingery, red hair. He is the most positive lad - full of energy and not scared of anything. People are in awe of Jimmy and know he is different, but don’t realise he has magical powers.

Artemis and his gang are super jealous of Jimmy and determined to break his happy spirit. They plan nasty things and are mean about his ranga hair. Will they succeed, or will Jimmy’s resilience and secret superpowers teach them a lesson?

★ Ranga - short for Orangutan ★

This story covers the themes of resiliencebeing kind, always doing the right thing and dealing with bullies. It encourages children to use the power of a positive mind to navigate life's challenges.

★ SUPERPOWER
 SCHOOL VISITS!

Sam loves talking to kids about their very own superpowersEVERYONE has superpowers! Some people are fast runners (like Jimmy!), others are great artists and dancers. But what are the best superpowers of all? Being kind and resilient! Being a good friend. Smiling and making people feel better. Helping others. Being understanding! We all have an unlimited supply of superpowers.

Children enjoy talking to Sam as she has a good sense of humour and funny stories. And she understands that we are all different and we can't all be good at everything! Sam has been on many, many fun school trips, spent a huge amount of time helping children with their reading, and loves doing craft sessions in school (especially at Christmas time).

★ Illustrating ★

Author Sam had to teach herself how to illustrate so that she could do the whole book herself! Some of the drawings aren't perfect - but who says they have to be? The drawings were there to add a bit of fun to the book. Why don't you do some drawings and send them in to Sam and they can be shared on the Jimmy Boon Facebook and Instagram pages?

We love the "Ranga" orangutan! Jimmy Boon calls them "Jimmys" as they have ginger hair like him!

This is Tom racing Jimmy! He doesn't know that Jimmy is super fast!
